Chamber’s Brainerd/East Brainerd Council

Moves Monthly Meetings

The Brainerd/East Brainerd Council of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will move its monthly meetings to the banquet facilities in the Chattanooga Billiard Club East at 110 Jordan Drive, beginning May 26.

The noon meetings will be held in the Tropicana Banquet Room. The cost of the buffet-style lunch will remain the same — $10 a person.

“We are moving because, with 70-80 attendees, we have outgrown the our current meeting room at Country Place Restaurant and are ready for a fresh start to the new Council year,” says Council President Heather Holloway, marketing coordinator for Pointe Property Group & Pointe General Contractors.  “The Tropicana Room offers us more space for membership growth, as well as a state-of-the-art audio/visual system for presentations to the group.”

Council attendees are asked to enter the building from the parking lot through the middle door, labeled Banquet Rooms. They should follow the signs to the Tropicana Room. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The meetings start promptly at noon.

The last meeting at the Country Place on Shallowford Road will be April 28 from noon to 1 p.m

The Brainerd/East Brainerd Council meets the fourth Tuesday of each month. Members and non-members from the business community are welcome to attend. For more information contact Holloway at 423-755-0844 or visit www.bebchamber.com.

YMCAThe May meeting of the Brainerd/East Brainerd Council of the Chamber of Commerce heard from one of the pillars of our community: the Hamilton YMCA.

Charlene Crawford, who has been with the YMCA for 16 years, wowed the audience with a presentation about the history of the YMCA, and the organization’s impact on our youth, teens and families. During her tenure with the YMCA, she has worked with children, teens and adults, and for the past 10 years has focused on children, youth fitness and childhood obesity.  She developed the Youth Fitness program for YMCA of Chattanooga Association.  Part of this development is the Empowered Youth program for overweight and obese youth.  In 2007 they opened the YMCA Kids Adventure Center that will hold up to 200 youth and adults.  This center is equipped to keep children and families active and healthy.  Currently her time is spent developing wellness programs for the whole family.

To learn more about the Hamilton YMCA on Shallowford Road, just drop in and ask for Charlene!
